Guidelines for In-Building Services
All patrons over the age of 2 must wear a face covering over the mouth and nose at all times while in the building.
Patrons must sanitize hands when entering the library or request plastic gloves as an alternative.
Patrons must maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others.
Occupancy is limited to 1 family or patron in the library area and 4 computer users in the Silverstone branch.
Eating and drinking are not permitted inside library locations.
For more information on face coverings and alternate accommodations, please see our FAQs at the bottom of this page.
Make your own selections from our shelves! Then use the self-checkout stands or the cloudLibrary app on your own device to check out items. We are limiting browsing time to 15 minutes.
Select items in advance through the catalog. You will receive notifications when your items are ready for pickup at your preferred location! When you arrive, find your items on the holds shelf and then use the self-checkout stands or the cloudLibrary app to check them out.
We are also offering outdoor holds pickup at this location only. Call 208-888-4451 to make arrangements.
Computer lab access
Computer lab sessions are limited to 30 minutes per patron. If you need computer access for a longer amount of time, please call 208-888-4451 or reach out through our live Chat with a Librarian service on this website to reserve a study room for free.
Computer help is limited, since we are observing social distancing at all times. Scanning and printing are available, with a limit of 30 free printed pages per patron. Each additional page is 10 cents for black and white and 25 cents for color. We will accept credit cards or library account charges, though we are not accepting cash at this time.
Returns through book drops
We are quarantining items for one week before checking them in. For that reason, items will still show up on your account for about 7 days after you have returned them. This process won't impact your ability to check out more items in the meantime, and it also won't result in any late fees because we no longer charge them!
Additional Service Information
- There is no public bathroom access at Silverstone.
- Library events are online only.
- We are not accepting donated items at this time.
The safety of our staff and patrons remains our top concern. Current safety measures include:
Requiring all staff members and patrons to wear face masks or face coverings in the building, and providing masks or shields to those who do not have them.
Requiring that patrons sanitize their hands before coming in our buildings to access services.
Limiting the number of patrons and staff members in our buildings, and enforcing social distancing at all times. Staff members and patrons are separated by acrylic barriers at help desks.
Quarantining returned materials for a week before processing them and returning them to circulation. Though the consensus among researchers is that the virus is largely transmitted through the air rather than from materials, we are still taking this precaution because we have less control over the environment in which those materials were used.
Increasing the distance between computer lab stations, and sanitizing stations regularly.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is mostly spread through the air. Even people who do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected can spread the virus. Masks and face coverings reduce those risks by preventing respiratory droplets from traveling in the air. When we wear face coverings, we are protecting each other. We are also helping to ensure that our library locations can remain open and that residents are able to move freely through the community.
For these reasons, face coverings are required to access services at all Meridian Library locations. If you do not have one, we will provide one.
Masks or face coverings are required to access services at all of our locations. We can provide a face shield or arrange for you to use a laptop outside the building or in a study room at Cherry Lane if you are unable to wear a mask. Please speak with our staff when you arrive if you are interested in either of these options.
To receive library materials, we encourage you to utilize our home delivery service or arrange for outside pickup at our Silverstone location by calling 208-888-4451.
Fill out the library card application here. We will activate your card within 24 hours, email you account information, and mail a physical library card to your address.
With Ada County still facing significant coronavirus transmission risks, library events are currently online only.
