Anticipated opening: December 2022
The Meridian Library's Orchard Park location at Linder Road and Chinden Boulevard will bring literary resources and support to residents in a fast-growing and currently underserved area of Meridian. Every space in the branch is designed with accessibility in mind. You will see this reflected in everything from the height of library furniture to the layout of the bathrooms.

The Orchard Park library will feature a holds pick-up room accessible 24 hours a day (pictured here).
The location will also include a drive-up book return.
The Orchard Park library will feature a sensory room. The relaxing lighting, gentle noise, and tactile features of the installations for this space will support sensory processing needs.
The space will include a window looking into the adjacent program room. This will allow children who need a break from the group environment to continue watching the program.
The Orchard Park library will feature an active child area designed to support young children as they learn through play. The space will be equipped with a selection of interactive panels, infant wall mirrors, and reading mats. Within this space, our staff will curate a rotating selection of activities to engage children while empowering parents and caregivers in their roles as a child’s earliest teachers.
The Orchard Park library will offer an interactive learning lab. The space will be adaptable for a range of community programs to support literacy and STEAM education for all ages. With Rocky Mountain High School just down the road, we know teens in particular will benefit from these after-school learning opportunities.
The Meridian Library District will be a long-term tenant in a 15,000-square-foot library space within the Orchard Park commercial development. The lease was approved June 15, 2020. The library's plans for the building interior are complete. We collected public input on the library design via online survey and forums in summer 2020.
Once the Orchard Park developers complete construction of the library building exterior, the Meridian Library District's tenant improvements can begin inside. Under the developers' current timeline, the building core and shell is projected to be complete in summer 2022. The tenant improvements are then expected to take 4-5 months. We expect to open the new location for services in December 2022.
Construction is underway, but the overall project schedule for the Orchard Park development has been delayed. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected some of the developers’ review and permitting timelines, slowed access to materials, and impacted labor. The developers have also adjusted plans for the Orchard Park plaza, which includes retail and outdoor space in addition to the library branch.
