As a caregiver, you are your child’s first teacher, and you play an important role in your child’s readiness for school. Preschool and other kindergarten readiness programs are great stepping stones for many children, however a national survey of kindergarten teachers said that parents and caregivers have the biggest impact on whether a child starts school ready to learn.
Skills like naming letters and counting are important, and your child learns best through play and everyday hands-on experiences, such as reading together daily, playing at parks and playgrounds, shopping together, and visiting museums, zoos, and libraries. These activities also build important social-emotional skills, which will help your child when it's time to get along with other children and teachers, or work on their own without disrupting the classroom.
Compiled above are a list of resources as you help your child navigate their journey from a preschooler to a real Kindergarten All-Star! Be sure to check out information about our Kindergarten All-Stars Program as well as take-home Kindergarten Readiness Kits.
