Guidelines for In-Building Services
All patrons age 3 and older must wear a face covering over the mouth and nose at all times while in the building.
Patrons must sanitize hands when entering the library or request plastic gloves as an alternative.
Patrons must maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others.
Occupancy is limited to 25 patrons at Cherry Lane, 10 patrons at Silverstone, and 1 family at the Tiny Library.
Eating and drinking are not permitted inside library locations.
For more information on face coverings and alternate accommodations, please see our FAQs at the bottom of this page.
Make your own selections from our shelves! Then use the self-checkout stands or the cloudLibrary app on your own device to check out items. We are limiting browsing time to 15 minutes.
Select items in advance through the catalog. You will receive notifications when your items are ready for pickup at your preferred location. When you arrive, find your items on the holds shelf and then use the self-checkout stands or the cloudLibrary app to check them out. You can also arrange for curbside pickup at Cherry Lane or Silverstone.
Computer lab access
Computer lab sessions are limited to 30 minutes per patron. If you need computer access for a longer amount of time, please call 208-888-4451 or reach out through our live Chat with a Librarian service on this website to reserve a study room for free.
Computer help is limited, since we are observing social distancing at all times. Scanning and printing are available, with a limit of 3 free black and white pages or 1 free color page per patron. Each additional page is 10 cents for black and white and 25 cents for color. We will accept cash, credit cards, or library account charges.
Returns through book drops
We are quarantining items for 5 days before checking them in. For that reason, items will still show up on your account for at least 6 days after you have returned them. This process won't impact your ability to check out more items in the meantime, and it also won't result in any late fees because we no longer charge them!
Study Room Reservations (Cherry Lane only)
Study rooms are available by reservation at our Cherry Lane location. Call 208-888-4451 to reserve a room. Study rooms can accommodate up to 2 people. Each room is equipped with a computer that is set up for video conferencing. Face coverings are not required while in a study room with the door closed.

Frequently Asked Questions
The safety of our staff and patrons remains our top concern. Current safety measures include:
Requiring all staff members and patrons to wear face masks or face coverings in the building, and providing masks to those who do not have them.
Requiring that patrons sanitize their hands before coming in our buildings to access services.
Limiting the number of patrons and staff members in our buildings, and enforcing social distancing at all times. Staff members and patrons are separated by acrylic barriers at help desks.
Quarantining returned materials for a week before processing them and returning them to circulation. Though the consensus among researchers is that the virus is largely transmitted through the air rather than from materials, we are still taking this precaution because we have less control over the environment in which those materials were used.
Increasing the distance between computer lab stations, and sanitizing stations regularly.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is mostly spread through the air. Even people who do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected can spread the virus. Masks and face coverings reduce those risks by preventing respiratory droplets from traveling in the air. When we wear face coverings, we are protecting each other. We are also helping to ensure that our library locations can remain open and that residents are able to move freely through the community.
For these reasons, face coverings are required to access services at all Meridian Library locations. If you do not have one, we will provide one.
Masks or face coverings are required to access services at all of our locations. We can arrange for you to use a laptop outside the building or in a study room at Cherry Lane if you are unable to wear a mask. Please speak with our staff if you are interested in either of these options.
Fill out the library card application here. We will activate your card within 24 hours, email you account information, and mail a physical library card to your address.
With Ada County still facing significant coronavirus transmission risks, library events are currently online only. We plan to offer outdoor programs this spring.
We are now accepting book and media donations at our Cherry Lane location. Staff members at our welcome station in the lobby will accept donations and issue tax receipts during library hours. Please limit your donation to one box of material at a time. Book must be published in the last 20 years and in excellent condition.
