Library Board Information
The Meridian Library Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in the large conference room at the Cherry Lane branch. Board meetings are open to the public. Please contact the Library 24 hours prior to the meeting if you need special accommodation.
The Library Board follows all laws and rules as set forth in the Idaho Code for Libraries.
Library Board Elections
Meridian Library District Library Board of Trustees are elected by District residents as directed by Idaho Code (I.C. 33-2720). If you are interested in a board position, please review the Library Trustee Job Description for qualifications. Trustee Elections are held in May every odd year (I.C. 33-2715, 33-2718), candidate filings are due March of that same year. Ada County will make legal notifications for the election, including publishing the notice for petitions for candidacy. Petitions will be filed with the clerk of the district. (I.C. 34-1404) The county will publish the notice(s) of election. (I.C. 34-1406). The Meridian Library Board of Trustees appointed Christina Hirsch on October 25, 2016 to fill the vacant seat with a term expiring May 2017.

Megan Larsen - Chair
Term ends 2019
Megan joined the Board of Trustees in January 2014. Megan is currently Director of Operations at Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and holds a Masters of Public Administration from Boise State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Arizona State University, plus more than 19 years professional experience in the public and nonprofit sectors. She and her family have benefitted so much from Meridian Library, as well as the larger Meridian community, that she wanted to do her part to make sure that her fellow community members could enjoy those benefits too.
Dustin Barrett - Vice Chair
Term ends 2021
Dustin is the Principal of Meridian Academy and recent graduate of the Leadership Meridian program. He believes that literacy is the key that unlocks the promise of education and the library provides opportunity and equity in the pursuit of literacy and knowledge. Not surprisingly, he and his family are avid readers!
Christina Hirsch - Treasurer
Term ends 2017
Christina and her family moved to Meridian from Seattle in 2014 and they absolutely love Idaho! A graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and an emphasis in Advertising, Christina spent more than a decade working for an advertising agency in media strategy and client management. Since moving to Idaho she has refocused her career on real estate and obtained her real estate license in 2015. In raising her three small children, Christina has developed a love of MLD and has strong feelings about the important role libraries play in our community for people of all ages.
Howard Little - Trustee
Term ends 2021
Howard Little is the longest standing Trustee on the Board, having served for 20 years and counting. He is a retired agronomist and has raised his family in the 42 years he has lived here in Meridian.
Douglas Rutan - Trustee
Term ends 2019
Doug retired from 43 years as a public school educator; both as a teacher and administrator in Arizona & Idaho. A familiar face to many, he spent 20 years in the West Ada School District as the principal of Frontier and Summerwind Elementary schools as well as the Special Services Director. His passions and interests also include active participation in the Meridian Rotary Club, the Meridian Historical Society, leading the restoration of Pine Street School for the Meridian Centennial, and restoring Meridian's 1937 school bus. Doug has a passion for learning and community service and his wealth of experiences in many different settings allows him to make meaningful contributions to the Meridian Library District.
Gretchen Caserotti - Library Director
Gretchen serves as the Secretary to the Board and clerk to the District.
