Silverstone Branch Children's Programs

Baby Sign LanguageBaby Sign Language Class (6 months and up) is a three-week course that meets on Saturdays. Babies and parents learn signs that can help them communicate with each other and improve vocabulary while reducing frustration. The next course starts on September 11th. Preschool ArtPreschool Art (age 3-6): Designed to allow children to be independently creative in a structured environment. Takes place at 11:15 AM on Thursdays right after Preschool Class. Sign-up the day of class. Contact Carley (carley at mld.org) for more details.

Tales to TailsTales to Tails (all ages) takes place every other Friday from 4:00-5:00 PM and every Saturday from 2:00-3:00 PM. Children get to read or tell a story to our therapy dog. This program encourages reading and narrative skills in a non-threatening environment. For more information contact Lindsey (lindsey at mld.org). Sign-up required. 

Beginning ArtNew! starting September 13th: Beginning Art for children in grades 2-5 meets on Mondays from 4:15-5:00 PM Sign-up required. Contact Kate (kate at mld.org) for more information.


Mayor's book clubNew! Mayor’s Book Club Fall Session
Children in grades 3-5 can sign up for the fall session of the Mayor’s Book Club beginning Monday, August 30th by visiting the Silverstone Branch or calling 884-2616. Participating children receive four hardbound books and get the opportunity to discuss the books with Mayor Tammy de Weerd and prominent business owners from Meridian. Snacks and refreshments are served. Sessions are held the first Thursday of the month from 7 – 8 p.m. beginning in October and running through January. The Mayor’s Book Club will take place in the Silverstone Plaza Amenity Center adjacent to the Silverstone Branch. Call or visit to reserve your spot today, sessions fill up fast! For more details, contact Natalie (natalie at mld.org).

Drop-in Programs

PJ StorytimeNew! starting September 7th: PJ Storytime (all ages, toddlers-grade 5) every Tuesday from 7:00-7:30 PM Wear your comfiest PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal or blanket for this evening story time. Contact Lindsey (lindsey at mld.org) with questions.

Toddler ClassToddler Class/Story Time (age 18 mos-3 yrs) begins every Tuesday at 10:30 AM sharp. Watch your toddler laugh, learn, dance, and play with a different theme every week! This program will help your child develop socialization, early literacy and communication skills in a really fun environment! Contact Carley (carley at mld.org) for more information.

Preschool ClassPreschool Class/Story Time (age 3-6) begins every Thursday at 10:30 AM sharp. Your preschooler will learn all about a special theme each week while we read, dance, sing, and so much more! Watch as your child makes friends, develops early literacy skills and has tons of fun. School Age ProgramsK-5 Alive! is our program for school-aged children. Come join us on Wednesdays at 4:15 PM for fun crafts and projects. Contact Kate (kate at mld.org) for more information.

Junior LibrariansThe Junior Librarians program (grade 2-5) is held on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM. Junior Librarians get a special tour of the library and are taught how to find materials, use computers and use the catalog. They read books and let us know what they think, practicing both reading and narrative skills. Kids can earn prizes by attending and reading books for the program. Ask Carley (carley at mld.org) for details.
