Requesting Materials

Meridian Library District is a member of the LYNX Consortium, sharing resources with Treasure Valley libraries. Most items from the Treasure Valley Consortium libraries may be placed on hold for pickup at the library location most convenient to the library patron.  Holds may be placed online  or by using the computers in the library.  Once items on hold request become available, patrons will be notified via automated phone call or email.  Patrons may have 5 items on hold or waiting to be picked up at any one time.  Items on hold will be held for pickup for one week, and may be returned to any Treasure Valley Consortium Library.

Items not owned by Treasure Valley libraries may be requested via
Interlibrary Loan if not in high demand or new.  Newer items may be requested for purchase at the library, for placement on hold if purchased.

To place an item on hold:

Access the library catalog remotely by clicking on the "Search Online Catalog" tab at the Meridian website.

First, search for item.  When viewing description screen, click on the button that says: "Place hold on first available copy".  If the item is part of a set that is broken into parts, such as some TV series, you will need to select
"Hold This Copy Only" to the right of the item.

Enter your 14-digit library card number (no spaces) and your 4-digit PIN number (default is the last 4 digits of the phone number in your library account, unless you specified otherwise).

Choose the library you wish to pick the item up at in the drop-down menu, then click "Request".  Please note that items are generally pulled once a day and will not always be available on the same day the item was placed on hold.  You will be notified when your hold is available for pick-up.

Remember to log out of your account in the catalog if you are placing holds in the the library or from a public computer.
