Library Mission Statement

The mission of the Meridian Library is to provide a comfortable, safe place where all members of the community feel welcome to come to relax, study and learn. Special emphasis is placed on providing current, high demand, high interest materials in a variety of formats including books, video, CDs, computer databases, and the Internet. Special emphasis is placed on stimulating young children's interests and appreciation for reading and learning; on supporting students grades K-12; and on supporting lifelong learning for adults.

The primary role of the Meridian Library is that of a popular materials library with the service response "Current Topics and Titles." The library features current, high demand, high interest materials in a variety of formats. People of all ages will find materials and programs at the library to make their lives more enjoyable and productive.

A secondary role of the Meridian Library is that of a preschooler's door to learning with the service response "Learning Support." The library encourages young children to develop an interest in reading and learning through services and programs for children and through educational computer programming designed to help them grow intellectually.

A secondary role of the Meridian Library is that of formal education support with the service response "Formal Learning Support" for those students who are enrolled in formal programs of education K-12 and for those students who are pursuing their education through a program of homeschooling.
