Did you know that 62 million people do not use the internet, but that 80% of jobs are now posted online instead of newspapers? The EveryoneOn Campaign hopes to get everyone access to the internet.
Yesterday saw the start of Connect2Compete's EveryoneOn Campaign, a nation-wide public service campaign to promote the importance of digital literacy skills. From the website, you can find classes in your area, get tips on applying for jobs online, and find wifi access! Join the Meridian Library as we seek to get Everyone Online. Don't forget--we have free wifi at all three locations as well as computer access at the Meridian Library @ Cherry Lane and the Meridian Library @ Silverstone!
Did you know that March 3rd-9th is "Read an Ebook Week"? Here at the Meridian Library District, we offer several options for you to get your hands on free ebooks. If you haven't ever checked out an ebook before, we're more than happy to help out, and we even offer some classes to get you started. Our next ereader help class is offered March 8th at 10 a.m. at the Meridian Library @ Cherry Ln.
Did you know that all three Meridian Library locations now offer a variety of video games for you to check out? Stop by and browse our selection of games for Nintendo DS, Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. You can also browse and place holds on these video games in the online catalog by searching the gaming console. For example, if you want games for the Wii, try typing "Nintendo Wii" into the search box at the top left of this window. Click the [Search] button under the drop-down menu that reads "Enterprise Catalog".
This week is Idaho Family Reading Week and if you come to any one of the Meridian Library locations, you can ask to receive up to a $5 waiver in overdue fines just for visiting the library!
Each location also has other activities, books, and more for you to check out to help get your child reading. We're still making single-serve chocolate cakes here at the Bookmobile (until we run out) so stop by when you get the chance!
November 13th-19th is Idaho Family Reading Week, and to celebrate this important occasion, your Bookmobile is offering a number of exciting programs.
