Starting May 1st, the book drops at the front of the Cherry Lane library will be unavailable due to interior construction to accomodate an automatic sorter. Please use the west side book drops or bring your materials into the library. You can also use our Silverstone location, our Bookmobile, or any local area LYNX! Consortium library to return Meridian Library materials.
The Meridian Library District would like to extend an invitation for you to meet our new director, Gretchen Caserotti. Gretchen was formerly the Assistant Director for Public Services at the award-winning Darien Library in Darien, Connecticut. She currently serves as the chair of the Association for Library Service to Children and Families' Children and Technology Committee. She is a nationally recognized librarian for her work in reorganizing collections and technology integration into public library services and was awarded the Library Journal Mover & Shaker award for innovation in 2010. Join us Saturday, April 20th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Cherry Lane library to meet Gretchen and share your thoughts about the future of the Meridian Library!
April 15th is less than a week away! Have you filed your taxes yet? As usual, the Meridian Library carries basic 2012 print forms, both state and federal. You can always, however, get them online. And if you need specialized forms we don't carry, be sure to visit the Internal Revenue Service and the Idaho State Tax Commission to get what you need. And always, if you're not sure, ask us!
The Meridian Library Board of Trustees has extended an offer to Gretchen Caserotti to serve as our new library director! Gretchen is coming to us from the Darien, Connecticut, public library, where she serves as Assistant Director for Public Services. She will begin her duties as our new director no later than April 1st, 2013. All of us at the Cherry Lane library, Silverstone branch, and Bookmobile are thrilled to have such an energetic and capable director. We are certain that we have a great future in store! Welcome, Gretchen!
Starting February 1st, the Bookmobile will be making slight changes to its schedule on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The Albertson's stop Monday afternoons is cancelled, and the Storey Park and Alpine Meadows stops will swap their time slots. See you on the bus!
Beginning the evening of Sunday, January 20th, and continuing into Monday, the 21st, the database for our catalog will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. During this time you will be unable to access your account, including the ability to perform catalog searches, place holds, and renew items. While this is an inconvenience, the work being done will increase the speed and efficiency of the catalog, as well as its long-term reliability. Thank you in advance for your patience.
The Meridian Library will again this year provide printed tax forms for our patrons. As of now, the only federal tax form available in print for tax year 2012 is the 1040EZ. We do not know when the print versions of the 1040 or the 1040A forms will be released. The federal forms are available in .pdf format from the website of the Internal Revenue Service (1040, 1040A--these links provide the forms only; search www.irs.gov for instructions and schedules). We do have the printed state of Idaho forms.
The Meridian Library at Cherry Lane now has a Twitter feed! Follow us along with our Silverstone branch and the Bookmobile to get news on programs for all ages, news on upcoming events, and whatever else seems appropriate.
The Meridian Library has two new databases! The first is MUZZY Online, an exciting new way for your children to learn a new language. It works through a story and interactive games that engage your child in exciting ways.
The second new database is Science in Context, provided by the GALE Group. This database is geared toward high school and college research, featuring authoritative source materials for all kinds of assignments and projects.
Welcome to the Meridian Library's new home on the web! We've redesigned and reorganized. All the information you're used to having at the click of a mouse is still here, plus maybe a little more. Take a few minutes to look around, then let us know what you think!
